8 activities to do this summer solstice

Today, 21st June marks the summer solstice and the longest day of the year.

What does this mean for us?

Mainly the fact that we have more daylight to get outside and enjoy!


We’ve put together 8 of our favourite things that you can do outdoors today.



We’ll start with something very simple.

Put on the trainers, head out of the front door and go for a walk.

Enjoy the sights, smells and feeling of the sunshine on your skin.

Walking is an underestimated, yet very simple way of keeping our bodies active.



Feeling a little more energetic?

Increase the pace and move those feet a little quicker.

The heart is an important muscle in the body so why not give it a bit of work to do.



Whether it’s a gentle bimble or a wind sweeping ride,

Jumping on the bike is a great way to keep active and enjoy the great outdoors!




Paddle boarding.



All are great ways to get on the water and enjoy the longer daylight hours.



Getting in the water rather than being on it more your thing?

If you’re lucky enough to live by the sea, a lake or river and it’s safe to do so, why not take a dip.

Alternatively, there are plenty of outdoor swimming pools around the country.

A great way to keep active, unwind and still enjoy the fresh air.



With the longer evening, why not make the most of it and head to the courts with friends and family.

A great way to work the body and enjoy the company of others.



9 or 18 holes, you should have plenty of time this evening to enjoy the course.



The ideal day to spend a little bit longer turning over that top soil, planting those bulbs or cutting that grass.

Another form of exercise that doesn’t get considered by most!
